Open Data Training and Services Project Manager at Openoil

Paul works on Open Data in the oil, gas and mining sectors and has been a core member in OpenOil's growing team. Among others, he facilitated Publish What You Pay's fellowship programme, training and mentoring the participants in working with open data for campaigning and drafted the organisation's Open Data position. Within the context of the Extractives Industries Transparency Initiative, he advised the government of Côte d'Ivoire in setting up a public companies registry. He supported a study commissioned by the African Development Bank on financial modeling capacities within government agencies. Paul presented OpenOil's own company disclosure database Aleph at the International Open Data Conference in Madrid, and discussed transparency policies at the African Open Data Conference in Accra, Ghana. He lead a workshop with journalists on using publicly available information for investigations at the Media Against Corruption Conference in Armenia. Prior to OpenOil, Paul worked in development research. He has been involved with INGOs and is engaged as a trainer for volunteers in international development programmes.
