Cofounder and CTO at Omelas. Director at Code to Inspire

Ben is the cofounder and CTO of Omelas. Omelas applies tech used by advertisers to understand why consumers become loyal to a brand and how messaging affects behavior to understand why people become loyal to violent state and nonstate actors and how propaganda affects behavior. Omelas's tech has foiled a terrorist attack against a European capital and won an audience with heads of foreign ministries in Western Europe, the Balkans, and Africa. Before Omelas, Ben led international expansion to select clients at Google and drove the largest ever reduction in support issues for Google’s fastest growing product, DoubleClick Bid Manager. He began his career monitoring jihadist and white supremacist content online. Outside of work, Ben is a director of Code To Inspire, a nonprofit that teaches women in Afghanistan to code and find work online. Code To Inspire has provided education over a hundred students, giving them the skills, guidance, and network to success in the global marketplace. Code To Inspire's work has been featured in the New York Times, BBC, and PBS and won the Athena Award from UC Berkeley and the Google RISE Award. In addition to Code To Inspire, Ben won the 2016 Volunteer of the Year Award at the Boys’ Club of New York, mentors first generation college students through America Needs You, and is the pressbox statistician for the Spanish broadcast of the New York Giants. Ben has spoken at New America, the Techne Summit, and the UN Youth Assembly, while his research on Afghan elections has been cited in the Asian Journal of Political Science and in the Journal of Political Studies.
