As a gender based violence (GBV) expert, Amel conducts research to understand the social factors that underline or drive GBV in different communities. She has masters in Gender Studies and Management of Non-governmental Organizations . She is also member of different research bodies and has several publications in the field. During her work at the World Health Organization (WHO) headquarter in Geneva and later at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Amel worked with hundreds of women from all over the world to examine and address different GBV issues. Amel's professional aspirations are motivated by a desire to promote women status and this passion is clearly reflected in her work aiming to transform norms that perpetuate gender inequalities
