Javier Bauluz

P + DH Journalism + Human Rights

Javier Bauluz is an Asturian journalist born in 1960 and the only Spaniard who has received a Pulitzer Prize. He is the director of the multi-format journalism production company with a human rights focus, Piraván, and is the founder of a new form of journalism, P + DH, Human Journalism. With his camera, which he understands as the "rifle" with which to "remove the hearts" so that "nobody can say he did not know what was happening", he tries to make us aware that it is worth risking to get a fairer world: a society in which we can all live. In his long career, Javier Bauluz showed us the disasters of the war in Rwanda, in Bosnia, in Chile, in Chiapas, in Zaire, in Nicaragua or in El Salvador. As a journalist, he is the author of the books Sombras en Combate 1992 and Rwanda, love in times of cholera 1994, and is part of the group of 10 Spanish photojournalists author of Beatings of a convulsive world in 2008.
